Vision Service Plans, better known as VSP are a full-service vision coverage package. VSP Cards
If you did not receive a VSP card, do not worry, they don't usually send cards. When you visit our optometrist for an eye exam, you will provide the last 4 digits of your social security number or the last 4 digits of the social security number of the subscriber. Our staff will pull up your plan through our system.
Routine Eye Exams
It is recommended to receive an eye exam every year. Vision changes often occur gradually; therefore, you will not know if your vision has become worse if you do not see an eye doctor once per year. Many diseases of the eye show no symptoms until permanent vision loss has occurred. Annual eye exams will allow our eye doctor to detect these diseases early, so you can begin treatment quickly. In addition to eye health, you need an eye exam to keep your eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions current. VSP covers one eye exam per year with a co-pay. The co-pay amount will depend on your plan.
Eyeglasses
Eyeglasses are covered under VSP. There is a co-pay for single vision, bifocal, and trifocal lenses. Add-ons, such as anti-glare coatings or progressive lenses are also available. Most VSP plans covers one pair of eyeglasses every one to two years.
VSP offers an eyeglass frame allowance. If you choose a frame over the allowance, you will get 20 percent off the difference. If you choose a VSP featured frame, you will get an additional $20 allowance. If you want to buy two pairs of glasses or a pair of sunglasses, additional discounts are offered.
Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are also an option through VSP. Most VSP plans will cover either contacts or eyeglasses.
